History

With more than 115 years of history, we are definitely among the most enduring commercial steel companies in Italy. Our foundation dates back to 1904, when Achille Strada, Eng., settled the business after a decade of structural engineering profession. The company premises used to be in via Romanino 7, nearby the railway station of Brescia.

Continuous business expansion and ever-increasing primacy of road transport led to search for a new, larger venue. The expanding industrial area, southward the city centre, was selected for its proximity to highway exit of Brescia Ovest (A4). We moved here in 1974, taking advantage of improved connections with main roadway system and larger capacity for trucks and heavy vehicles. The venue in via Maestri 5 has since remained home to our company until today.

In the field of structural steel, there seemed to be no room for pursuit of quality and product innovation. We have been among the very first in Italy to disprove this assumption, focusing on quality steel. A decision ahead of the times, made possible by a far-sighted management, with constructive approach to market requirements. During the 1980s we began selling rolled bars and beams of steel grade Fe 510D (Italian norm UNI 7070) - nowadays S355J2, according to harmonized European standard EN 10025. Some profiles are still available from stock in different grades, like S275JR.

The range of products has broadened through time, to include a complete selection of crane rails - a product on which we have developed a rock-solid experience. At present we are able to offer forged products, too, starting from selected large sections.

As concerns its current premises, Strada Ing. Achille S.r.l. covers an area of approximately 25000 square metres (30000 square yards), of which one third indoor. The company can rely on a staff of about twenty people, divided between warehouse and office tasks. We are not a multinational or a large corporate group, but we are used to close interactions with the leading companies in our field - be they steelmakers or end users -, and we manage to deal effectively with complex business structures. With more than 115 years of activity, Strada Ing. Achille S.r.l. is a solid, well-established company, with a reputation you can trust. Throughout the years, we have built good trade relations abroad, consolidating our presence on several foreign markets.
